Welcome to our wedding page

As you probably know by now we have decided to tie the knot and throw a celebration for our family and friends. We met almost seven years ago through our friend B.J Badyk, and life hasn't been the same for either one of us since. As you are all family and friends we are sure you understand what we feel for each other. So let's celebrate!! Below you will find all the information about the event. Please use this page to RSVP, and pay attention to the music playlist. If you have trouble with the RSVP form please contact Jess at 207-408-6257 and she will take your information for you. We will keep a running total of how many people there will be below, and when you RSVP you should be added to this total. We hope and encourage everyone to come to the event. If you are having second thoughts just think of this: it is a multi-family/multi-friend reunion, and it's on an ISLAND. Do you really want to miss it? You may want to bookmark this page so you can come back to check up on the playlist. People will add new songs and the list only works if you vote for or against them. Remember, the wedding is August sixth two thousand five on Great Diamond Island, Portland, Maine directly following the 3:15 ferry.

Gift Ideas

Gifts are NOT compulsory; however, they are traditional and many of you may want ideas. For this reason we have registered at Target, Crate&Barrel, and Linens-N-Things under the names Jessica Ford and Christopher Mooney. We had a considerable amount of difficulty finding things that we both felt we needed, but the ideas at the registry are good. For further ideas we always enjoy electronics and things you can use at social events (i.e. games). Clearly, money is always welcome, but again do not feel compelled to get a gift since showing up is the best gift. We will be opening gifts the following day on the island at Doug and Katie's place around 11:00am for anyone who would like to join us. There will probably be refreshments and some form of human sustenance.

Some of you have asked us for more ideas. We can really only think of big things, which is why we didn't put them on the list in the first place. Nevertheless, people thought it would be a good idea to add some of these big things in such a way that people could contribute money to them, and collectively there might be enough money to buy the whole thing. We have always wanted the ability to kayak on the island, but the total cost of the boats, paddles, life jackets, and skits was always too much. If you would like to contribute money to these items for our wedding gift, please use the donation button below. NOTE: If we get all the money for the kayaks and equipment, please know that any of you are invited to come out to the island to use them around Casco Bay.

Directions

The events will be held at Elwell Hall (N 43.67645, W 70.20300) on Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay. But you won't be able to drive there without an amphibious vehicle. Instead you must take a Casco Bay Lines ferry to Great Diamond Island. Casco Bay Lines (N 43.65683, W 70.24875) has full directions HERE, and for a MapQuest map of Casco Bay Lines' location go HERE. This ferry DOES NOT take cars. That is, the boat will carry people, dogs, bikes, and freight only. This means you should show up 30 minutes before the boat leaves so you can find parking. All boat tickets are round trip and cost ($7.25) for Adults, ($3.60) for children, seniors, and the handicapped, and ($23.25) for a 5 ticket commuter book that can be shared with family members. For more information on rates you can go to the Casco Bay Lines Rates and Fares page. The schedule can be found HERE. You can use this schedule to find departure times from Great Diamond, where the latest is at 11:00pm. Remember you MUST make the 3:15pm ferry to arrive on time. In the case where people miss the 3:15pm ferry we will have a water taxi standing by. Conversely, if the departure schedule does not meet your needs you can also take a water taxi off by contacting Captain Gene Willard at 207-415-8493.

Parking

Parking can be somewhat of a problem in the summer. To make matters worse there is another HUGE wedding on the island the same day, and that is just Great Diamond. So, to give our guests a heads up on parking we have compiled a list of our "secret" spots in the old port.

This lot costs money and is most likely FULL. It is clearly the most convenient, but also costs the most money. For maps of each location click the respective links.
This is the next lot you will want to consider if you are willing to pay for parking. It is very close if there is room in the primary lot, which is right next to the office. This lot is not as expensive as the one at Casco Bay Lines, but there is also a chance you will need to park further away.
This is FREE street parking that is about 10 minutes walk from the Casco Bay Lines Terminal. You can park all along this line of cars where permitted. The problem here is that this is the best free parking for the islands. That means you will hardly ever find a spot in the summer.
Again this is FREE street parking that is about a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. These spots can also become very full in the summer. If you are going to be lugging stuff, you should consider dropping someone off with the stuff at the terminal.
This is also FREE street parking, but it is no fun to walk to or from this spot unless you like walking. You should be parked here about 20 minutes before the ferry is going to leave.
Free parking that should be a LAST resort, since the residents don't like the spill over. Again this is a 20 minute walk from the terminal.
Again, LAST resort. This is basically the same distance as above, and about a 20 minute walk. You will most certainly find a place here, but figure on spending time checking the other spots and then parking here. This is why we say you should plan to be there 30 minutes early (2:45).
This too is a FREE spot that is about 15 minutes from the terminal. The neighbor"hood" isn't that nice, but we have never had problems here. ONLY park here if you have a working emergency break or a standard transmission with a bad battery, as it is on a steep hill. (hence the name Mountfort)
Last but not least is the street parking next to The Shipyard Brewing Company. We suggest checking this spot if you can't find a spot at the beginning of Fore Street. The only problem here is that it stinks of barley. This is about a 15 minute walk to the terminal.

Food

As many of you already know we are vegan. To find out more about veganism you can go to vegan.org. This necessarily means that all the food at the wedding will be vegan. We are planning to hold a vegan buffet catered by Diamond's Edge Restaurant, and will include: fresh vegetable spring rolls, garden salad, a roasted vegetable pasta dish, and a tortilla pie. Jessica, her mother Katie, and her friend Kat will be baking the wedding cake, which will also be vegan. It is shaping up to be a chocolate and cherry mound of yummy goodness and, we plan to post the recipe when it is complete. For those vegans who will be coming from out of town, or for those of you who are interested in trying vegan food, go to Traveling Vegan to get a listing of what is good in the area. If you have any special food needs please let Jess know by calling 207-408-6257. We will have the caterer put something together for you.

Music Playlist

The following is a list of songs taken from the top 200 wedding song listing for 2005. There are a bunch of songs on the list and we are, for the most part, impartial. That being said, we have decided to do this democratically. If you would like to add a song to the list you can do so below. All we ask is that you consider if people can dance to the song. By adding a song it will automatically get one vote. The votes are added up so that all songs are listed in order of the most popular first. That is, you can go through the list and vote either for or against the songs on the list. In the end the songs that get the most positive votes, and the one that got the most negative, will be played. Have fun and come back often as the list is bound to change. NOTE: You do not need to add three songs or select Yes or No on a vote. The extra spaces are there to make adding songs easier and all "unselected" fields are ignored.
